If I've been quiet on this blog lately, I've also been relatively quiet in real life. This week, for example, has largely been occupied by more-or-less silent rumination on statistics derived from linear combinations of noncentral chi-square variates.
I've also managed to squeeze in some time for contemplating the paradox that few things encourage praying, "Come, Lord Jesus!" quite like preparing for the non-religious aspects of the last week of the secular year. If Divine Providence were to schedule the Second Coming prior to the final-for-real-this-time circuit round the stores, that would be fine with me.
